Description:
As a member of WEHI’s Communications and Marketing team, the Communications Coordinator works to enhance the public understanding of the institute and build a community of engaged supporters through creation of high-quality communication content and by supporting stakeholder engagement opportunities and communications activities.
The Communications Coordinator ensures that the institute’s communications activity is effectively delivered to various external and internal audiences, via a range of digital and offline channels.
Liaising broadly across the institute, and with external providers and stakeholders as necessary, you will ensure the accuracy of content, delivery of communication within agreed timelines and foster positive relationships with all stakeholders.
You will assist in the development and promotion of high-quality communication materials such as website content, social media, publications, digital and print newsletters, media releases, videos and advertising collateral.
The role will also support the delivery of strategic communication projects, deliver on communications plans, evaluate and report on communications activities, support campaigns and events and provide support across the Communications and Marketing team.
Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
A tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience in communications, public relations, media or journalism.
Demonstrated ability to produce written content (social media content, website content, publications, articles, digital and print newsletters, media releases) and video to meet target audience needs.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute communications plans.
Proven ability to deliver high-quality work with attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
Proficient with using process and/or project management tools to maximise clarity of roles and responsibilities, driving efficiency and delivering high-quality outputs within set timelines.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure in a team environment to meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 products.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
Experience in medical research sector or scientific communication roles.
Experience in using Mailchimp, Monday.com or similar project management platforms.
