PSP are exclusively recruiting a Manager Arts & Culture (Senior Officer) position on behalf of Baw Baw Shire Council. Reporting directly to the Director Economic Development, Arts and Advocacy, the role’s key positions objectives include:
 

• Provide effective leadership providing employee empowerment and effective management to aid the teams growth,
• Have direct oversight of all relevant budgetary and future funding prospects,
• Lead and deliver on the core Principles of the Councils Strategic plan (Creative Communities Strategy 2023 – 2029)
• Help initiate and bring a philanthropic mindset to drive events and growth for the region.
   

Furthermore, this role oversees delivery of Council’s arts, cultural and some events services to the community. The position promotes Baw Baw Shire’s reputation as a vibrant centre for arts, cultural activity and manages these services in a way that creates benefits for social and community well-being and economic development.

This is achieved through the delivery of Baw Baw Shire’s Creative Communities Strategy 2023-2029. Delivering on Council’s commitment to invest in arts and culture. Providing hard and soft infrastructure, services, events and experiences which support the development of a vibrant, sustainable arts and cultural sector.

To be considered for the role, essential Skills and experience required:
 

• Tertiary qualifications in either Arts, Marketing, Event Management, Business and extensive experience in Local Government/Council.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Australian Arts Industry (incl. funding, policy, and administrative bodies)
• Demonstrated experience in the management of diverse teams and functions.
• Highly developed communication, problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills,
• Experience in a similar role in local government will be required
• Local Government probity checks including WWC, and valid driver’s licence will be required.
