Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Services Engineering, this role plays an integral part in the versatile Underground Mine Services operational team, which supports mine operations through the installation and upkeep of critical air, water, pumping, and ventilation infrastructure as well as the management of underground diamond drilling and safety equipment store.

As we prepare to transition to Cemented Paste Fill (CPF) in FY26, the Mine Services Engineer will play a crucial role in facilitating this process. The ideal candidate for this position should be able to effectively inform and prepare our Services team for the upcoming transition, as well as provide support in the smooth implementation of our underground paste reticulation network.

This is a dynamic role which will provide you a breadth of responsibility on a day-to-day basis and challenge you from a technical, project/contract management, coordination, and execution perspective.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of Olympic Dam’s next phase as we ramp up Paste operations to grow production. To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated and can effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders.

This position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 8/6 roster with options of residential, FIFO ex-Adelaide or DIDO from regional SA.

In This Role You Will
 

  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care and a visible safety leader to support the Mine Services team, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Analyse data and track initiatives to grow department capability using BHP Operating System tools.
  • Manage continuous improvement projects across their full lifecycle including planning, stakeholder engagement, change management, and closeout actions.
  • Support Leadership in managing risk portfolio and understanding risk appetite.
  • Complete routine financial budgeting and analysis, reporting, and commentary.
     

About You

We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values and communication skills. In addition you will have:
 

  • Experience in mining (ideally underground) or similar industrial operations with a tertiary engineering qualification.
  • Understanding of the mining cycle and underground infrastructure will be highly regarded – ie air, water, pumping, backfill reticulation, and primary/secondary ventilation systems.
  • Advanced in the use of Microsoft Office including PowerBI to consolidate and analyse information.
  • Strong customer support focus and ability to communicate at different levels of the business from operational teams to management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team and meet deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Science or an aligned discipline.
