Scrum Master

Description:

Seeking a Scrum Master to join Agile Delivery Teams supporting a range of ICT transformation projects. The role focuses on leading Agile ceremonies, fostering high-performing teams, and supporting Product Owners and Delivery Managers to ensure successful delivery outcomes. Responsibilities include backlog management, board hygiene in Azure DevOps, and stakeholder engagement across large-scale programs.

Applicants must bring extensive experience applying Agile and SAFe frameworks in complex environments, with strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving capabilities. Proficiency in tools such as Azure DevOps, Miro, and Microsoft Suite is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Guiding, coaching, and assisting teams to instill Agile principles and practices, fostering a high performing culture within Agile Delivery Teams (ADTs).
• Leading Agile ceremonies using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology— including daily stand ups, sprint planning, sprint review and sprint retrospectives—ensuring they are positive and productive.
• Managing project Boards in alignment with the prescribed DevOps Standards, ensuring board hygiene and currency through daily updates.
• Applicants located outside of Canberra will be required to travel to Canberra for operational reasons as directed (e.g. onboarding, planning exercises [1-2 times per quarter], in person training, etc.). Any required travel will be discussed in advance and notice given wherever practicable.

Skills and experience

• Evidenced experience (>3 years) and industry recognised certification/qualifications as a Scrum Master. A strong understanding of the SAFe methodology and its application within a large and complex Program, preferably within a government context.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with colleagues to achieve outcomes.
• Proficiency in using various IT applications and project management tools, including the MS Suite, Azure DevOps, and Miro or similar.
