Senior Materials Fire Testing Technician

Description:

As the Senior Materials Fire Testing Technician, you will be responsible for managing NATA-accredited materials fire testing facilities, ensuring ISO17025 compliance. You will also develop specialised test procedures, design test rigs, conduct fire tests, and maintain equipment. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and trade skills, as it involves supervising staff, enforcing OHS standards, and supporting research projects.

Picture yourself in a cutting-edge lab buzzing with innovation, where you’ll be at the heart of ground-breaking fire safety research. The work area is a dynamic, hands-on environment—think large-scale furnaces, biaxial test rigs, and material testing equipment, all set in a spacious, modern facility designed for structural fire testing. You’ll be surrounded by a collaborative team of researchers, casual lab staff, and students, all working together to push the boundaries of fire safety science.

An example of your responsibilities or duties you may perform will include:

  • Develop in-house NATA accredited laboratory procedures for specialised testing not available by current national or international standards.
