Support Education Teacher

The Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School, established in 1972 is a kindergarten to year 12 co-educational, non-denominational school located in the eastern suburbs at Warranwood.

We are seeking an experienced Learning Support / Support Education Teacher with a background in Steiner Education. This is a one-year contract with the possibility of secure tenure subject to a successful review at the end of the year.– Whole school coordination.
– Ability to answer Enrolment enquiries specific to learning support / support education.
– Working with individuals, small groups or in class support.
– Management of student records specific to Support Education.
– Administering NCCD Census and State support services funding.
– Liaising with paraprofessionals.
– Working with Class teachers.
– Attending meetings with parents and/or teachers when requested.
– Working with a Support Education team of four colleagues.

• Full Victorian Institute of Teaching (V.I.T) registration
• A strong knowledge of the NCCD and implications for funding.
• A sound understanding of, and commitment to, current Child Safety Standards.
• Be able to implement individualised learning support programs across a variety of year levels.
  This includes academic, therapeutic and emotional / behavioural supports.
• A demonstrated ability to work collegially with different faculties within a school environment.
• A demonstrated ability to consult empathetically with parents.
• Training and qualifications in Special Needs Education, Curative Education or Dyslexia will
  be looked upon favourably.
