Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with a range of disabilities and complex learning needs including autism, intellectual disability, physical disability and/or behaviour difficulties.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate quality individual personalised learning support and behaviour plans to facilitate improved student learning outcomes.
• Experience in or willingness to learn Augmentative and Alternative Communication, with a focus on school-wide implementation of TD Snap, Key Word Sign and Core Communication.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively contribute to our whole school culture by working collaboratively with staff, students, families, caregivers, and allied health professionals, as well as supporting active links with our wider community.
• Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed practice, and the implications for school in meeting the educational and welfare needs of students from low socio-economic communities and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families.
